 1) Hans Joachim, amerikanischer Politikwissenschaftler deutscher Herkunft, * Coburg 17. 2. 1904, ✝ New York 19. 7. 1980; lehrte in Genf (1932-35) und Madrid (1935-36), emigrierte 1937 in die USA; war 1943 Professor an der University of Chicago, 1950 Direktor des »Center for the Study of American Foreign and Military Policy«; gilt neben G. F. Kennan als Hauptvertreter einer »realistischen«, an der Staatsräson orientierten Auffassung machtpolitischer Fragen.

 2) 2) Henry, junior, amerikanischer Politiker, * New York 11. 5. 1891, ✝ Poughkeepsie (N. Y.) 6. 2. 1967; Sohn des 1865 aus Deutschland eingewanderten jüdischen Geschäftsmannes und Politikers Henry Morgenthau (*1856, ✝ 1946; 1913-16 Botschafter in der Türkei). Morgenthau, ein enger Freund und Berater F. D. Roosevelts, war Agrarpolitiker und 1934-45 Finanzminister 1944 entwarf er den Morgenthau-Plan.
